A prayer for our children

I was going through my notes this morning and found this prayer I had written down for Tommy when he was 5 months old:

“I prayed for a prayer to pray over Tommy all his life, as he grows up and was led to this tonight:”

1 Philippians 9-11

I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live a pure and blameless life until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation- the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ- for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

And I just love a promise from God, how uplifting I find it to be:

Proverbs 4:11-12: “I will guide you in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, and when you run, you will not stumble.”
